Memories From the Department of Amnesia
This tape is about the death of my mother, the process of grieving, the way in which memory operates and resulting emotions. It enunciates the painful phases of grieving; the catastrophic affects of dealing with the loss of a loved one; the transitional void where one is lost between the comfortable orientation of ones world and nothing; where images from the past resurface from the abyss of forgetfulness. This piece is an elegy to my mother whose attempts at balance and security were constantly disrupted by social, cultural, and political forces beyond her control.
